Palworld Halloween Base Build Guide — Spooky Themes with In-Game Items
Build a Halloween-themed base in Palworld using items already in the game — pumpkin farms, candle-lit interiors, dark stone walls, spooky Pal aesthetics, and biome picks that sell the atmosphere. No event required.

You don't need to wait for a Halloween event to build a spooky base in Palworld — the game already has most of what you need. This guide covers the aesthetic building blocks, biome picks that sell the atmosphere, spooky-vibe Pals for base staffing, and specific coordinates for locations that already feel Halloween without decoration.
Two-line summary: Pick a dark biome location (Mount Obsidian's outer ridges, Sakurajima's northern coast, or the Forgotten Island), build with dark stone + wood + torches, farm pumpkins in a visible fenced patch, and station Depresso, Killamari, and Cryolinx as your visible base Pals. Everything below expands on each piece.
Best base locations for a Halloween vibe
Palworld's biomes vary wildly — some are naturally atmospheric, others take heavy decoration to sell. For a Halloween theme, biome does 60% of the work.
Mount Obsidian (outer ridges). The volcanic biome south of Palpagos main map. Ambient sound is muted, lighting is orange-red at dusk/dawn, and the terrain reads "cursed volcano" without any decoration. Best spot: the ridge overlooking the Fisherman's Point NPC (relevant to the Beyond Dimensions quest too). Approximate coords: (-480, -745).
Sakurajima northern coast. Sakura leaves everywhere + moody coastal fog + the cherry-blossom particles that persist even after the main forest, plus low-hanging clouds at night. Very "Japanese ghost story" energy. Look for coastal cliffs facing northwest where the sunset paints the trees red.
The Forgotten Island (Foot of the World Tree). 1.0's endgame region has darker ambient lighting than pre-1.0 zones. If you've unlocked the World Tree, the outer ridges before you cross into the region proper have a permanent-twilight feel that reads Halloween year-round.
Astral Mountains. High-altitude cold biome with permanent snow — combine with dark stone walls for a "haunted alpine cabin" build. Bonus: the ambient sound of wind + distant caves adds atmosphere at no cost.

The building material palette
Use these building pieces to lean into the spooky aesthetic:
Walls:
- Stone Wall or Reinforced Stone Wall — cold, gray, structural. Backbone of any haunted-house build.
- Refined Metal Wall — pairs with stone for a "witch's forge" or "cursed lab" vibe.
- Wooden Wall (aged) — for the "abandoned cabin" look. Paint darker with the Home Sweet Home v0.7.0 paint system if you're on 1.0.
Roofing:
- Slate Roof (dark stone tiles) — reads perfectly as a witch's cottage
- Wooden Slats in dark paint — for the classic haunted-house silhouette
Flooring:
- Stone Floor for the "crypt" feel
- Wooden Floor intentionally left uneven or with gaps
Lighting (this is where the atmosphere lives):
- Torches — mount every 4-6 tiles on walls
- Campfires and small braziers — inside courtyards for the flickering glow
- Furnaces — running production furnaces emit real firelight after dark, unmatched atmospheric detail
- Avoid electric lights — they read modern and kill the mood
Fences and boundaries:
- Wooden fences at low height around a pumpkin patch
- Stone barriers for a graveyard feel
Farming pumpkins visibly (the centerpiece)
The single most Halloween-associated crop in Palworld is the Pumpkin. Farming pumpkins in a visible fenced patch instantly sells the theme.
How:
- Unlock Pumpkin Plantation at Technology Level ~15
- Requires a Pal with Planting suitability (Cattiva works; Mau or Lifmunk are more efficient) and one with Watering (Fuack, Pengullet, or Teafant)
- Fence the plantation with wooden fence at half height so the pumpkins stay visible from paths — the visual is the point
- Add scarecrow-style decorations with placed wooden posts + a stone or metal object on top
For farming mechanics and efficiency, see the Base Efficiency guide.
Spooky-vibe Pals for base staffing
Some Pals just look Halloween. Station these prominently:
Depresso — the perpetually sad ghost-cat Pal. Pocketpair already used it as the Halloween mascot in 2025 (the Depresso armor set was the flagship reward from that year's Halloween event). Great as a visible planter/logger in any Halloween build.
Killamari — floating white ghost squid. Absolute Halloween energy. Water/Dark typing. Assign to Watering role in the pumpkin patch for double flavor.
Cryolinx — spider-like Ice-type Pal. Visually reads as a Halloween creature (arachnid + cold biome fit). Good at Mining for a "cursed mine" side project.
Menasting — larger arachnid Pal, Dark type. Perfect base guard for a spooky courtyard.
Necromus — the "death knight" endgame Pal. Requires the World Tree unlock and endgame breeding, but stationed as a visible base defender it's the ultimate Halloween vibe. Full breeding walkthrough: Necromus Army Build.
Blazehowl Noct — a "Night" variant Pal. Even the name works. Station as a Kindler on your Halloween-themed workshop.
Frostallion Noct — the Dark-variant of Frostallion, exists as a legendary mount, silver/black colored — the mount you actually ride to your spooky base.
Base layout recipe (small-medium base)
A working Halloween base blueprint at ~30x30 tile scale:
- Central pumpkin patch (10x10 tiles) — fenced with low wooden fence, visible from the main gate, one scarecrow decoration in the middle
- Witch's cottage (main workshop, 6x8 tiles) — stone walls, slate roof, torches on all four exterior walls, one interior campfire
- Cursed forge (secondary workshop, 4x6 tiles) — dark metal walls, primary forge inside, one exterior brazier
- Graveyard corner (4x4 tiles) — stone barriers arranged as low walls, placed lanterns, ideally against a cliff face or dark background
- Dark path connecting all three — stone floor pieces, torches every 4 tiles
- Fenced perimeter — mixed wooden + stone barriers, torch every 6-8 tiles
The Depresso, Killamari, Cryolinx, and Menasting rotation handles all the base work while looking on-theme.
What to change if a Halloween event drops
If Pocketpair ships new Halloween decorations in a 2026 event (see Palworld Halloween 2026 preview for the current status), the natural additions would be:
- Jack-o'-lanterns replacing scarecrow decorations in the pumpkin patch
- Spider webs on interior walls of the witch's cottage
- Tombstones in the graveyard corner
- Special Halloween-tinted torches if event lighting drops
The build above is designed to accept those items as swaps rather than replacements — you don't have to rebuild anything.
Common problems
"My pumpkin patch keeps getting stripped by Pals." The Pals harvesting pumpkins is normal — they're doing base work. If you want the visual to persist, dedicate one small patch (2x2) as decorative-only outside the base radius so it doesn't get auto-harvested.
"My base looks too clean for Halloween." Lean harder into asymmetry — offset walls by half a tile, use uneven floor levels, leave one wall unfinished with visible framing. The Home Sweet Home paint system lets you make anything darker; use it.
"The lighting doesn't feel right at night." Torches produce warm orange light; that's what you want. Kill all electric lights. If it's still too bright, reduce torch density; if too dark, add campfires in courtyards for larger warm circles.
"I can't unlock Pumpkin Plantation." Check your Technology tab — it's around Level 15 on the tech tree. If you're under Level 15, focus on leveling before you commit to the theme.
