Palworld Implants Guide — How to Skip Breeding Grinds for Rare Passives
Complete Palworld Implants guide. Pal Surgery Table unlock, three implant sources (Bounty Tokens, Arena Battle Tickets, Ancient Relic Recycler), disposable vs reusable, and when to use implants over breeding.

Implants are Palworld's shortcut past long breeding chains. Instead of hatching 30 eggs hoping to roll Legend + Ferocious + Musclehead, you can use an Implant at the Pal Surgery Table to drop a specific passive directly onto a Pal — including some of the game's rarest and most powerful ones like Legend, Rainbow, and World Tree Seedbed.
This guide covers how the system actually works: unlocking the Pal Surgery Table, the three ways to get Implants, when to use them, and honest guidance on when breeding is still the better path.
What Implants actually do
An Implant is a key item that either:
- Unlocks a passive as a permanent selection at the Pal Surgery Table (reusable — the same passive stays available forever), or
- Is consumed once to drop a specific rare passive onto a Pal (disposable — usually reserved for Legendary-tier passives)
You use them at the Pal Surgery Table, where you can add or replace passive skills on any Pal in your Palbox. This is a massive time-saver — building a Necromus with all four target passives via breeding can eat 15-30 hatches; if you have the right Implants, you can just plant them.
Prerequisite — the Pal Surgery Table
Before you can use any Implants, you need the Surgery Table itself:
- Technology Level 38 (Player Level 36+) to unlock
- 2 Technology Points to buy the blueprint
- Craft cost: 30 Refined Ingot + 20 High Quality Cloth
- Place at any base
The Surgery Table also handles gender changes on Pals — useful if breeding requires a specific-gender pair. But its primary use is Implant-based passive customization.
Once built, the Surgery Table shows a menu of passives you can add or replace. By default it comes with a small selection of common passives (basic combat, work speed, etc.). To unlock more powerful passives, you need Implants.
Three ways to get Implants
There are three sources, each with different tradeoffs. Most serious players end up using all three depending on what they're chasing.
1. Bounty Tokens — permanent Surgery Table unlocks
How: Hunt wanted fugitives (marked NPCs) scattered across the map. Each defeated fugitive drops Bounty Tokens. Exchange them at any Bounty Officer NPC (e.g., coords 74, -477 in the Small Settlement).
What you get: Permanent Surgery Table unlocks for specific passives. Once you buy a Legend Implant with tokens, Legend stays available at your Surgery Table forever — you can apply it to as many Pals as you want.
Best for: mid-tier reliable passives you want to stack across a whole team (Ferocious, Swift, Musclehead, Runner). Also good progression for solo players who want steady implant income without endgame grinds.
2. Battle Tickets — Arena rewards
How: Head to Arena Island (coords 629, 14). Complete Challenge Mode (PvE) or PvP matches to earn Battle Tickets.
What you get: Reusable Implants traded from the Arena vendor. Similar mechanic to Bounty Tokens — the passives become permanent Surgery Table options.
Best for: players who enjoy Arena content anyway, or who want passives that aren't in the Bounty Officer's stock. Multiplayer players get faster ticket income via PvP if their server has active players.
3. Ancient Relic Recycler — disposable Legendary drops (endgame)
How: Collect Ancient Relics from Pals defeated in the World Tree biome (see World Tree Resource Farming). Process them at the Ancient Relic Recycler using World Tree Holy Water. Output includes Disposable Implants with rare/Legendary passives.
What you get: One-time-use Implants for the game's most powerful passives — Legend, Rainbow, World Tree Seedbed, and other endgame-only skills you can't get through any other source.
Best for: endgame players building final Legendary squads (like a Necromus army for the Sealed Calamity boss) where every stat percent matters.
The Ancient Relic Recycler — deep dive
This is the endgame Implant source and deserves its own breakdown.
Unlock:
- Technology Level 74 (deep endgame)
- 3 Technology Points
- Craft cost: 30 Ancient Civilization Parts + 20 Ancient Civilization Core + 50 Paloxite Ingot + 50 Mythical Wood
- Workload: 10,000 — assign multiple high-Handiwork Pals or expect it to take real time
- Requires electricity — build a Power Generator and assign an Electric-type Pal to run it
How to use:
- Load Ancient Relics + World Tree Holy Water into the Recycler
- Assign a Pal to operate it
- Switch Power ON
- Press V to acquire the output
What you get: variable output based on relic rarity — Paloxite, Implants, Manuals, Ancient Cores, Skill Fruits. The rarer the relic, the better the output. Legendary relics have real chances at Legend/Rainbow/World Tree passive Implants.
Efficiency note: World Tree Holy Water is a finite resource also used for Awakening Crystals (per How to Awaken Pals). Budget your Holy Water carefully — don't burn all your reserves on Implants if you're also planning to Awaken a full squad.
What passives you can drop
The full Surgery Table catalog depends on which Implants you've unlocked, but the notable ones from each source:
Common Bounty Token passives (mid-tier reliable):
- Ferocious (+20% Attack)
- Musclehead (+30% Attack, −50% attack speed)
- Swift (+30% Move Speed)
- Runner (+20% Move Speed)
- Nimble (+10% Move Speed)
- Various work-speed passives
Arena Battle Ticket passives:
- Overlap with Bounty passives plus some Arena-exclusive picks
- Ticket availability rotates in some patches
Ancient Relic Recycler / Disposable passives (endgame-only):
- Legend (+20% ATK / +20% DEF / +15% Move Speed) — the single most valuable combat passive
- Rainbow (World Tree resources don't vanish on approach) — Legendary passive for gem farming
- World Tree Seedbed — new 1.0 passive
- Demon God (+30% ATK, +5% DEF) — pure damage
- Other unique World Tree passives
Implants vs breeding — honest comparison
Implants aren't strictly better than breeding. They have real tradeoffs:
Use Implants when:
- You need a specific passive on a specific Pal and don't want to breed 30+ eggs
- The target passive is expensive to roll via breeding (Legend, Demon God are rare rolls)
- You have Ancient Relic surplus from World Tree farming anyway
- You're building endgame carries where you need exactly-right passives
Stick with breeding when:
- You're building a general roster where "good enough" passives work
- You haven't unlocked the Surgery Table yet (Level 38 gate)
- You don't have Ancient Relic Recycler yet (Level 74 gate)
- You want to combine multiple passives via Genetic Recombination mutations
- You're trying to get a Legendary Pal with a specific Mutation (implants can't help with base stats or IVs)
Realistic hybrid workflow:
- Breed until the Pal has 2-3 target passives + the species + IVs you want
- Use Implants to fill in the remaining 1-2 slots with the passives that were expensive to roll
- Awaken once the Pal is finished
This saves 60-80% of the breeding time while preserving the mutation/IV benefits breeding gives you.
Common problems
"I placed the Ancient Relic Recycler but it won't work." No power. It needs an active electrical grid — Power Generator + assigned Electric Pal.
"My Implant unlocked a passive but the Pal shows no stat change." Check if the Pal already has 4 passives — you might need to replace one. Also confirm the passive is combat-relevant; some passives affect work speed or environment, not stats.
"I ran out of Ancient Civilization Parts to build the Recycler." These drop from Ancient Civilization enemies and specific chests. Farm the Feybreak area if you're short.
"Can I remove an Implant after using it?" Not really — passives are added/replaced, not layered. Once you swap a passive out via the Surgery Table, it's gone from that Pal (though your Implant unlock stays available).
