Palworld v1.0.3 — Balance, Progression, and World Tree Buffs (August 11, 2026)

Palworld v1.0.3 (build 1.101.283) ships major progression and balance changes: Jetragon unlockable at Level 70 (was 79), Aquatic Construction Kit at Level 23 (was 66), World Tree Holy Water buffed hard, fiber from trees doubled, and Crude Oil Extractor cheaper. Full breakdown.

Released August 11, 2026 on Steam and consoles. On console this appears as build 1.101.283. This is one of the biggest post-launch patches so far — not just bug fixes, but real balance shifts that change how you actually play. Several of the meta calls we made in 1.0 Meta Picks and the flow described in the World Tree Resource Farming guide are now easier.

The changes that matter

Jetragon is now unlockable at Level 70 (was 79) and needs fewer materials to ride. This is the biggest single change in the patch for combat. Jetragon is the consensus S-tier best all-round combat Pal — 9 fewer levels of grind between you and the top of the meta, plus the Pal Gear (the saddle that lets you ride and fly Jetragon) needs less to craft. If you were sitting at Level 70-something planning your Jetragon push, you're already there.

Aquatic Construction Kit unlock crashed from Level 66 to Level 23, its Ancient Technology Point cost from 4 to 1, and its material/work requirements were both cut. Aquatic Construction was previously a hard-endgame unlock; now it's mid-early-game. If you build near water — Sunreach islands (Soralite), Sakurajima coast, Panthalus island staging — this changes your basing options dramatically.

World Tree Holy Water got buffed in five separate ways:

  • Duration extended (unspecified numbers, but longer).
  • Weight cut from 1.0 → 0.1 (10× lighter — you can carry ten times as much).
  • Now drops from World Tree expeditions, World Tree fishing, and the Large Fishing Pond.
  • Larger amounts drop from Pals in the World Tree area.
  • Teafant Spring drops more Holy Water.

Holy Water is a required ingredient in the Awakening Crystal recipe (50 Holy Water for 10 Crystals). Combined with the weight reduction, you can now realistically farm enough Holy Water in one World Tree run for multiple Awakenings. This was a serious grind bottleneck; it's now merely a grind.

Fiber from trees doubled. Silent, quality-of-life. Every early-game player benefits — Fiber is the choke point for cloth, ropes, bows, first-tier crafting.

Crude Oil Extractor got cheaper to build and faster to run, and the same-tier upgrade (High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor) now also progresses the base mission that required the base version. Big for anyone running an oil rig setup — see Best Base Locations for where to put it.

New server setting for admins: bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp — controls whether enemy camps can spawn near your base camps. This is a request people have been making since launch on the dedicated-server side. Community server admins running longer campaigns will want this in the config.

Bug fixes worth knowing

  • PS5 crash fix — Global Palbox no longer crashes for users with parental controls enabled under certain conditions.
  • Xbox One / Xbox One S crash fix — no longer crashes when moving near some World Tree field bosses.
  • PS5 / Xbox — "Some world settings are too high for your system" error no longer leaves you cursorless and stuck on the world selection screen.
  • Sunreach mission unblock — the main mission is no longer bricked if you removed the barrier before accepting it. That was a launch-week trap that stranded some players.
  • Dedicated server Fast Travel bug — no longer activates unintentionally during Tower Boss battles. That's a big one for community servers.
  • Dedicated server visual bug — Pals no longer "vibrate" on the client screen.
  • Co-op cutscene lighting bug — client-side lighting no longer displays incorrectly after cutscenes.
  • World Tree cutscene stutter fix in co-op.

Meta shift — what changes

  • 1.0 Meta Picks — Jetragon is still the top combat pick, but it's now materially easier to acquire. The "level 70+ endgame" language on our page is no longer strictly accurate; you can grab Jetragon at Level 70. We've added a dated update block.
  • Awakening — the Holy Water grind step is significantly easier. If you were putting off Awakening your combat carries because of the Holy Water cost, the math just improved.
  • World Tree Resource Farming — Holy Water is no longer a scarce trickle; it's a routine drop from multiple sources plus fishing. The section on Holy Water farming will be updated.
  • Best Base Locations — the oil-base recommendation (Sakurajima Waterfall) becomes cheaper to build out and produces faster. No re-ranking, just better numbers.
  • Progression pacing — Aquatic Construction Kit at Level 23 changes the mid-game exploration loop. Water-adjacent basing becomes viable much earlier.
  1. Update the game. Steam auto-patches. Console rollout was same-day.
  2. If you're 65-79, push for Jetragon now — the new unlock threshold means you're either there or a session away. Our Best Element: Dragon page has the team-building context.
  3. If you've been putting off Awakening because of Holy Water scarcity, do a World Tree farming pass. The math genuinely changed.
  4. Server admins: add the bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp line to your PalWorldSettings.ini if you want to control enemy camp spawning near bases. See How to Host a Palworld Dedicated Server for the config file location.

No changes to

Combat Pal stats — no Pal was nerfed or buffed in this patch. Damage numbers, HP pools, and passive skills remain the same. The Tier List and Best Element pages don't shift on rankings.
